The Public Records Custodian is the main point of contact for persons wishing to submit a public records request to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Records Custodian’s role is to receive, manage and respond to public records requests on behalf of the University. Working with University Legal Counsel the Records Custodian analyzes the request, determines if the university holds the record requested and if the requester is entitled to the record or prohibited from accessing the record under state or federal law, and prepares the record for release.
