The University of Wisconsin-Madison provides specific processes for employees, job applicants, students, academic program applicants, program participants, and visitors or guests to request a reasonable accommodation. A university appeals process is offered for most individuals when there is alleged discrimination on the basis of disability.
The ADA Coordinator, or their Office of Compliance designee, investigates appeals related to the denial or modification of a requested accommodation. The Office of Compliance’s Civil Rights Investigation reviews grievances of alleged disability discrimination mostly unrelated to an accommodation. In some instances, a reasonable accommodation dispute may be investigated through the Civil Rights Investigation process, such as when the grievance concerns a course or event that has ended, or an individual is no longer employed with the university.
Further information about the reasonable accommodation and appeals process is below based on your affiliation with the university. Contact the ADA Coordinator with any questions, or if you need a disability-related accommodation to participate in the appeals process.
