James Shepherd serves as a Civil Rights and Compliance Investigator with the UW-Madison Office of Compliance. Prior to joining the university, James worked in private practice in Chicago where he advised individuals, businesses, and public sector clients with regard to employment and civil rights related laws.

James earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Alabama and his Juris Doctor With Honors from DePaul University College of Law, where he also received American Jurisprudence Awards in Employment Discrimination and Labor Law and worked on the DePaul Law Review.
