TAKE ACTION – Get on Track! Outdoor Wheelchair Fair

Access Ability Wisconsin (AAW) and Madison College’s Occupational Therapists Assistants (OTA) Program invite the community to our “Take Action-Get on Track” Outdoor Wheelchair Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 4-6 p.m. at Madison College, Health Education Building, 1705 Hoffman Street, Madison, WI

Plan to attend our “Take Action-Get on Track Fair” – a family friendly event. You will get a chance to try out our outdoor wheelchairs and explore the ways the chair can be used. Come and take a test drive. Stations will be set up to learn ways you can volunteer.

We will celebrate our volunteers and recently awarded grants. Thanks to the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources, and our many supporters, we are increasing the number of outdoor wheelchairs (OWC) which are made available at no cost to residents of Dane and surrounding counties. These chairs are able to go where regular wheelchairs with skinny tires can’t go.

Access Ability Wisconsin (AAW) provides access to outdoor wheelchairs (OWC) for use to people with spinal cord injuries (SCI), seniors, and anyone with a mobility issue. This allows them, in a practical way, to experience their right to enjoy the great outdoors and discover new opportunities with family and friends, just like everyone else! This possibility enables them to be more equally engaged with society. Benefits are decreased feelings of depression and isolation, increased feelings of independence and spontaneity. The result being that lives are improved for individuals with a mobility challenge and their families.

AAW is dedicated to making it easier for individuals with temporary and permanent mobility challenges to enjoy their right to access and enjoy Wisconsin’s outdoor natural resources. Outdoors Access 4 All!™
